Dear Rich -
I just want to let you know that we are VERY HAPPY with the handling of our move by your company. The container arrived at our house on September 17th, and the University appeared to handle any and all customs related issues without any one of us ever going to the port. Your people here were very professional and handled the delivery quite well indeed. The container was unloaded in one day, and they setup everything the next day. A few remaining items which were not setup because some rooms of the house were not ready were handled a couple of weeks later.
Overall, nothing was broken or lost, except for a few trivial things (a lamp shade holder) that we must have thrown away when we unpacked the boxes.
I want to thank you for your help with our move. I have been wanting to write for some time, but, as you can imagine, my job here is pretty overwhelming. I just remembered again today as I was doing some straightening up on my desk, and I ran into one of your cards.

All is fine here, thanks for asking , although its taking me a while to adjust back into UK life after being in the US for 4 years! The move went perfectly for me all round. Everyone that was involved at every stage was friendly helpful and courteous, and it really took away the stress for me as there was nothing to worry about and it was nice to know it was all in safe hands. Also the timing of the shipment’s arrival in the UK couldn’t have been better – I got back on the Weds and my goods were delivered on the Friday -perfect again. Thank you again for your help, support and efficiency in all of this and I wouldn’t hesitate using you again or recommending you to anyone that needs your services.

One small listing error by the good people of Gentle Giant had me searching for a non-existent case of CDs – DVDs had been recorded as CDs – for a bit but that’s the only negative! Flawless service overall – thanks for everything!

I am happy to let you know that the move went very well. The packers in Boston did a thoroughly professional job, which was completed by an equally professional service at the receiving end. There were no damaged or missing items and the completed paper work enabled a smooth passage through customs in The Netherlands. The time taken from door to door was with 50 days (Dec 30 to Feb 18) on the slow side, but quality is much more important than speed.

Thanks for your email. My apologies for the delay in my resposne. Our move went very well. It took a little bit longer than expected to get our stuff through customs (probably because of summertime) and the fact that customs wanted to do a visual inspection of our stuff. Besides that, the move from the beginning to the end went wvery well. The movers in DC were very good as were the movers here in the Netherlands. Everything, except one mirror, made it in one piece to our new place. (Can we file a claim for the broken mirror?) I want to thank you for your guidance and if we ever decide to move back to the US, we’ll definitely think of you again.

My move went pretty smoothly. Baltrans arrived with a crew of 6 punctually. They had a great attitude and were highly efficient. The entire move, from movement of boxes and furniture to assembly and unpacking, took 3 hours plus. Would recommend Baltrans again.

I am quite impressed with the whole move, the competitive quote, the accurate estimate of the space needed to move all of our household goods plus a car, and the quick reactions from all the teams involved. My HR referred Graebel but they are so slow in getting things organized, and their inaccurate estimate leads to a very over-priced quote. I will not hesitate recommonding Rainier to anyone. All-in-all, our move has been a very positive experience. The guys from California Relocation Services were brilliant – very friendly and efficient – and as a testimony to their packing skills, only one of our items suffered minor damage on the long trip over. Fortunately, our claim was handled quickly by Intertrans Insurance Services and the money was delivered straight into our account via electronic transfer. Although initially we felt we would have liked to have had more of the process explained to us in writing, we have to say that the original quote supplied to us turned out to be completely correct and we have very much appreciated the fact that you – and all your staff – have been so responsive via email throughout the whole move. Sorry I wasn’t able to get back to you sooner, 2008 was a crazy year for me from start to finish. After morving from California to Australia and back to New York over six months, my grandmother passed away and I finally feel like I have both feet on the ground.
I can’t even tell you how pleased I am with your moving service. All of my worldly possessions travelled over 20,000 miles in total and all of it made it back to me in New York as I packed it. Not a single piece was broken, including my wine glasses and artwork. You were all so very helpful in helping me deal with the changes and relocations as they occurred. FINALLY, I have found the apartment, and was allowed to move in. The group in England was super helpful, they let me store my possessions in England for a very low price while I apartment hunted. And they delivered the materials the exact day I requested.
Unfortunately, my apartment was not fully renovated as the landlords had promised, so I could not have the movers unpack the boxes, I asked them to stock them in one of the rooms. I will unpack next week and let you know if everything’s is okay. So far, everything has been amazing. Every box arrived. A testament to your efficiency…just before the movers left our apartment in San Francisco 5 months ago…I put a toilet plunger on top of the boxes that were set to move. The movers must have carried it away with them. It was not numbered, listed nor packed…and today in Paris, there it was, sitting on top of the boxes, my toilet plunger! That made me laugh. Now that is service!
I am very happy that I chose your company, and will STRONGLY, even aggressively, recommend you to anyone needing to go somewhere.
If there are any damaged goods, I suppose I should contact you about the insurance? Either way, I’ll let you know how it goes.

Thanks for checking in. So far so good. Our shipment has cleared customs in the UK and is waiting at the EUROUSA warehouse for shipment to Berlin. It is taking a bit longer than we thought, but this is just fine, since my mother’s apartment will not be ready to move in until July 2.
I am expecting a call from Ashton next week to schedule the delivery.
I will keep you posted, but I am very pleased so far. In fact, I have already recommended you to 2 friends.

Avner is one of the most professional and customer oriented business people I have dealt with in my 12 years in the US. He is always accessible via phone and email, which is very reassuring when one is trusting him with looking after all one’s worldly possessions – he even called to our home on July 4th!!
His team of packers/movers (Dora,Jesus and team) were very courteous and professional. All of our belongings were moved into storage by your DA partner in Dublin – this team was also very professional.
Our household items are well packaged so hopefully we will find all intact when we move into our new home in a few months time. I have recommended Moving Star to other friends who are relocating to Ireland.

Thanks for your follow up interest. I am happy to report that every aspect of the move went smoothly. Even when a couple of our artwork pieces were seized by New Zealand Immigration for pest contamination the matter was handled efficiently by both the local agent and the government people and the goods are back in our hands bug-free.
Moving Star’s part of the move went especially well. Your advance attention to the move details was appreciative and paid off on the day of the move. The pick up of our grand piano from Cabrillo College required some special effort, not only in organizing the removal in advance, but working with the school class schedule on the day of the move. On the day of the move a minor glitch required your guys to hold back for a while due to school activities. They were cooperative and pleasant in accommodating this matter. My wife, who was present at the college, commented on how careful and professional your team was in handling this valuable instrument.
Again, the second stop of the move at our residence went just as smoothly. Because everything was crated, the pickup was a quick one. It was the only time I met your moving crew and I wish to echo my wife’s comments that they were extremely friendly, hard working, and good representatives for your company.
Finally, the local agent here in NZ who took delivery of the goods and handled the customs clearance was excellent. Like yourself, they made several advance calls to insure all the paperwork and delivery details were in order so that the customs clearance and delivery would go smoothly. All of the goods arrived in perfect condition, not a scratch. In fact, even the shipping crates were in new condition.
All three players in this move worked well as a team, Moving Star and World Moving (NZ) did a great job in handling the goods, and Rainier did everything we could have expected in coordinating the entire process, including the sea freight services. Rainier has a difficult job handing over their responsibilities to a number of other companies worldwide. In our experience, they selected their partners well.

Everything worked perfect. We came back to Sweden in the beginning of April and the container arrived without problem to Norrköping port in the end of April.
The customs cooperate 100 % and we did all of the paperwork by ourselves. We hired a truck who loads the container and we got it very close to our storage.
When we open up the container everything was unharmed. We can just thank you for all help. We will absolutely recommend You to all people we know who have to send something overseas.

I was meaning to write you. We are here and well…. our house is SMALL!! So, we are kind of shuffling deck chairs on the titanic right now and one couch didn’t fit into any opening of our house. So we now have the most expensive garden furniture in all of England. Storage units are made for people like us, I am sure.
The service and the move were exceptional and I would love to thank you and tell everyone about your services. That being said, if and when we move back we will be using Rainier in the future. In fact, our stuff arrived in England before we were able to get our TV (ultimately broken) from Seattle to Boston via UPS. So, that was amusing.
The one question that we were unsure about is… were the packing materials supposed to be removed after we unpacked? They did take away some paper, but not the majority… We are now stuck with a lot of paper and no real means of disposing of it- particularly the wrapping for our furniture. We also seem to have escaped major damage thus far, although we have not unpacked completely. We have had one broken glass and a dinged up lamp that we fixed, so that was not an issue. I hope that we fared as well with the pictures. I will let you know if there is any damage on that front.

Sorry for the delay in reply. I spent last week in Berlin and only unpacked most of the furniture over the weekend.
1. Rainier I am very appreciative of your efforts particularly when we appeared to be confused in the UK over the exact locations. The process and service you have provided was very good. Thank you. I am sure I will be in contact when I return to the US in 2009.
2. McGarity [Packing and Transport] The Pennsylvania crew did a very effective job in packing all the goods and effects. The packing has been very good in protecting all the furniture , chairs and beds etc. To date we have seen no damages to the furniture [I still have to unpack the pictures but they appear to be fully intact.
The kitchen plates and glasses we have examine dare all well packed and we appear to have no breakages.
Only minor effect is the bending of some shelving points (6) but these can be easily replaced and are probably linked to the transhipping to container or otherwise.
The crew were, as I have become to expect were helpful, courteous and hard working. They did a great job on a hot day.
3. EUROUSA International Movers
The local movers, actually completed all the move very well after the original confusion over ‘Smith’s and the container location’. Clearly this was compromised by fact that we were dealing with 3 different agents Jon, Lisa and ?
Lisa did a good job once we were all on the same page.
The delivery crew (whom I didn’t meet) according to my parents and neighbours did a good job in moving all the stuff according to my listing to the respective rooms. We did not have them unpack anything due to the option of re-shipping some of the furniture onward to our London apartment in June. The only report of damage came form the delivery driver with the vehicle who cited damage to the alloy wheel. This will be reviewed with the local garage when I get the car configured for UK requirements at the end of May.

Rich Haas (richh@rainieros.com) was great and responsive and always kept us up to date on everything even though we were already in Germany. The pick up went flawlessly (though we did need to have relatives available at the storage unit to oversee the pickup, luckily we had an aunt and uncle in the area) the shipment took longer than expected by nearly two weeks but I can’t fault Rainier for that (altogether it was about 6 weeks door to door). The company that Rainier hired to deliver on this side (ITO) was also more than fantastic. Not ONE item was damaged or missing, not a single one. The movers were very friendly and punctual to within 5 minutes of their delivery time estimate even though they hauled everything from Bremen to Nuremberg (an overnight drive) during a snow storm to do it.
ITO’s moving crew also reassembled the furniture that we asked them too without any complaints and did so very quickly. We had a relatively small move, everything fit into a small apartment, but it went swimmingly considering that it had to be organized from Germany and documents needed to be sent and signed and all that fun stuff (everything was handled through telephone, email and fax).
All in all, we lost our deposit from the first company we contacted (Global Ocean) and paid more than we’d hoped, but in retrospect we paid a very fair price in the end, we’d hoped to get away with paying an unrealistic price at first, but it’s true what they say, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Beware of unrealistically low prices is all I can say after this experience. I can not recommend Rainier and Rich Haas enough. Rich always followed up with me to give me progress reports even if I didn’t explicitly ask for one and was willing to do everything we asked of them. We didn’t have to repack in Wisconsin before the pickup which was something we expected to have to do and expected to have to pay a good amount more for that service so that was nice as well. The quote that Rainier gave was almost a thousand less than the next lowest bid so cost was also outstanding overall.
I would absolutely go with Rainier again if I ever had to do another overseas move my experience was really top notch.
